CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE IN PCs
This is done to solve and prevent failures in the operational system of the software and the hardware. The corrective service of the computer may imply the application of one or several processes depending on the need and the state of the computer. The corrective service generally has 3-5 hours duration, generally depending on the speed of the computer.
The following are some of the processes to solve failures in the system:
Periodic Verification: is the check on the components or parts of the computer by the execution of trial programs: Motherboards, Keyboards, Serial of USB Communication Ports, Parallel Impression Port, Memory Ram Hard Disk Units and Mouse.
Elimination of temporary files and lost or corrupt files: It is the exclusion of files generated by the applications installed in the computer that are not used anymore.: elimination of temporary files, lost files, empty folders, invalid registers and direct accesses having a route not existing anymore with the purpose of recovering space in the hard disk, increasing the speed and correcting the failures in the normal functioning of the computer.
Fragmentation of discs: is the organization of the files in the disk to improve the speed of the computer.
Protection System: is providing the machine with an updated and effective antivirus to recognize any new infection and to improve the search engine of the antivirus.
Security Copies (Backup): is the transfer of all the existing data or information, including document files, e-mail, contacts, favorites and files not belonging to the system or programs in the hard disk of a computer into an external Backup device (CD and DVD).
Reinstallation of Programs: installation of operational systems and applications such as: Office, of design, accounting, antivirus and others.
Configuration of Drivers of Peripherals: is the installation of the programs necessary to recognize the components of the hardware installed in the computer (Printer, Scanner, Motherboards, Video, Sound, Fax-Modem, Network Cards and others).
Configuration to the Internet and electronic mail: installation and process through which the machines are connected to the Internet and to the electronic mail of each computer.
Mail Accounts: Check and Configuration of the electronic mail in the computer.
High Level Formatting: is to prepare the disk by a new installation so that the system may remain free of viruses and of operational errors.
Configuration and connection to the Network: This is a special job so that computers may see each other and may share printers and resources among the machines of the network.
Bios Updating: is to provide the machine with the appropriate software so that the motherboard may recognize the storage devices that are part of the system.
